Abstract

Modern agriculture faces significant challenges, such as the need to increase productivity and sustainability. One promising approach is the application of tumpangsari systems, where two or more plant varieties are grown simultaneously to optimize land and resource use. This study aims to assess the impact of inorganic fertilizer (NPK Mutiara) on the growth and yield of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) and large red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) under a multicropping pattern. The method employs a complete randomized block design (CRBD) with two treatments: types of plants (purple eggplant (T1), large red chili (T2), and mixed plants (T3)) and fertilizer doses (M0 (0 g/plant) without fertilizer as a control, M1 (2.5 g/plant), and M2 (3.75 g/plant)). This study was conducted in TPH Tohudan agricultural land, Colomadu, for 4 months, measuring plant height, number of leaves, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, number of fruits per plot, fruit weight per plot, and fruit volume per plot as main parameters. The analysis results indicate that M1 significantly enhanced all growth and yield aspects in purple eggplant and large red chili compared to M2 and the control. Based on these findings, it is recommended to apply a dose of 2.5 g/plant (M1) in the multicropping system for optimal results. This research provides deep insights into the importance of selecting the appropriate fertilizer dose to enhance agricultural yield while supporting sustainable agricultural practices through the efficient implementation of multicropping systems
