PELUANG DAN TANTANGAN KERJASAMA PT FREEPORT INDONESIA DENGAN USAID DALAM MEMINIMALISIR STUNTING DI PAPUA PADA TAHUN 2024-2025
Abstract
Abstract:
This study analyzes the opportunities and challenges of cooperation between PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in an effort to minimize stunting in Papua in 2024-2025. Stunting is a significant chronic health problem in Indonesia, particularly in Papua, with a high prevalence that requires a multidimensional approach. This collaboration, realized through the “Partnership to Accelerate Stunting Reduction in Indonesia (PASTI)-Papua” program, represents an innovative partnership model between multinational corporate entities and international development agencies. Using the Theory of Institutional Liberalism to understand the role of institutions in facilitating inter-actor cooperation, as well as the Concept of Health Diplomacy that highlights the interaction of state and non-state actors in the global health agenda, this research explores the synergy of financial and technical resources, access to remote areas, potential for increased community legitimacy, and strengthened collaborative governance as key opportunities. On the other hand, challenges identified include differences in organizational priorities and culture, PTFI's historical environmental and social issues, program sustainability, coordination complexities with local government, and impact measurement and accountability. This qualitative research used a descriptive qualitative method with a document study-based data collection strategy. The results show that while this cooperation offers great potential for accelerated stunting reduction, its success is highly dependent on clear challenge mitigation strategies, trust building, and transparent accountability to Papuans.
