Abstract

Platforms like Twitter (X) have evolved beyond personal communication into digital spaces for political discourse, influencing societal perspectives. One influential figure in this context is @Pandji Pragiwaksono, a comedian and social activist known for his vocal stance on political dynasties. This study aims to analyze the framing of public opinion among netizens regarding @Pandji’s views on political dynasties and the reactions they generate in digital discussions. The theoretical framework incorporates public opinion, new media, and political dynasties. Employing a qualitative approach, this research explores netizen culture by collecting data through participant observation and digital scraping of interactions on @Pandji Pragiwaksono’s account. The data is analyzed using framing techniques to identify dominant narratives and opinion patterns.Key findings reveal two main insights. First, @Pandji frames political dynasties as antithetical to democracy and human rights, using satirical and provocative communication. Second, netizens are polarized into two groups: (1) those supporting Pandji’s critique with anti-nepotism and justice arguments, and (2) those defending political dynasties as a democratic right. These discussions reflect the dynamics of Indonesian public opinion, where social media serves as a battleground for political discourse. The study highlights the role of public figures and digital platforms in shaping societal views while underscoring challenges to democracy in the digital age.
