Analisis Diplomasi Budaya dan Peran Komunitas Muslim dalam Menghadapi Islamofobia dan Ketegangan Identitas di Paris
Abstract
The phenomenon of Islamophobia in Paris reflects the tension between France’s secularism and the public expression of Muslim religious identity. In this context, cultural diplomacy plays a crucial role as a soft approach to ease symbolic conflict and foster social coexistence. This study aims to analyze the role of cultural diplomacy and the contributions of local Muslim communities in addressing Islamophobia and identity tensions in public spaces across Paris. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through case studies and discourse analysis, this research highlights initiatives by communities such as the Institut des Cultures d’Islam and interfaith dialogue forums in promoting intercultural engagement. Findings reveal that despite being constrained by populist politics and state policies restricting religious symbols, cultural diplomacy can offer space for alternative narratives about Islam in French society. Through grassroots community involvement in arts, education, and media, cultural diplomacy becomes a strategic tool to counter stereotypes and build more inclusive social bridges within the city of Paris.
