Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of life
skills education (Life Skill Education) to provide children with special needs in SLB Bina Putra
Salatiga to survive in society (research in the academic year 2009/2010).
In accordance with the purpose, the research method used is descriptive qualitative
method. In this study, the subjects were students of Bina Putra SMPLB Salatiga in the academic
year 2009/2010, totaling 13 students. The collecting data in this study is by using techniques of
observation with the aim to find out directly about the Effectiveness Guidance private of
teachers in providing life skills education (Life Skill Education), types and kinds of life skills,
barriers, difficulties in providing skills to students SLB Bina Putra Salatiga SMPLB level.
To test the data used technique of data triangulation, researcher and triangulation
methodology. While the analysis pursued with data collection, data reduction, data presentation
and conclusion.
From observations and interviews can be seen that Children with special needs with the
diversity of its characteristics will successfully learn life skills (Life Skills) which dijarkan with
personal guidance of teachers as a provision so that they can later have the skills used to
survive in society in days to come.
