PELATIHAN TOUR GUIDE PKM WISATA MANGROVE MENYAMBUT NEW YOGYAKARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Abstract

The Mangrove Tourism Village is located at Jangkaran village which is 33.6 km to the west of Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta. It is strategic area which has economic growing potential and society welfare (poverty elimination, unemployement solution), social and cultural development, natural resource empowerment (natural, environment, and resource conservation) and environmental supporting power. The Jembatan Api-Api and Pantai Pasir Kadilangu are mangrove tourism area that has uniqueness, beauty, and values which are natural resources and artificial product diversity as tourist attraction. The Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) is the evaluation program from the Iptek bagi Masyarakat (IbM) implementation in 2017 which has efforts to solve the tourism management problems especialy at Jembatan Api-Api and Pantai Pasir Kadilangu in becoming the professional English tour guide. The program is aslo a solution for facing the development of New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA). The method used was training and mentoring about the use of English for tour guide and restaurant employee nearby with the foreigners from Brazil and Turkmenistan. The result showed the mangrove visitors increasing from 7.000 to 10.000 per month in 2016, 20.000 per month in 2017 and 30.000 to 40.000 per month in 2018. The visitors are not only the local tourists but also the foreigners.
