Abstrak

ABSTRACT :
Social criticism is criticism, input, rebuttal, satire, response, or assessment of something that is considered deviant or violates the values that exist in people's lives. The lyrics of the song Distorsi, which incidentally was created during the New Order, are inseparable from the current state of the country Based on evidence of the phenomenon that occurred and being able to create a connection between the lyrics of the song Distorsi and the current condition of the country where there are still many cases of corruption. The lyrics of this song, which contains social criticism, can also be understood by the public with figurative inserts so that it can be conveyed in the hope that through the lyrics of this song, the government and the people themselves can be made aware. Semiotics is the study of the science of signs that exist in human life and the meaning behind these signs. There are four concepts of semiotics, namely signifiant and signifie, langue and parole, synchronic and diachronic, syntagmatic and associative or paradigmatic. This study uses semiotic theory to find meaning in Distorsi's song and its relation to social criticism by looking at the signs that are in accordance with the concept of semiotic theory so that conclusions can be drawn about the social criticism that the writer of Distorsi's song wants to convey.
