The Role of Group Guidance Service with Movie Learning Strategy in Shaping Students’ Emotional Intelligence in Class XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri Colomadu in the 2021/2022 Academic Year

Abstract : The present study aimed to see The Role of Group Guidance Service with Movie Learning Strategy in Shaping Students’ Emotional Intelligence in Class XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri Colomadu in the 2021/2022 Academic Year. This 3-cycle guidance and counseling action research consisted of four stages in each cycle: planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Participants of the study were eight students from Class XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri Colomadu of 2021/2022 academic years known to have problems in controlling and regulating their emotion due to low emotional intelligence. The group guidance session was performed using movie learning strategies. Interviews, observation, and documentation were performed to collect the data. A qualitative descriptive analysis technique was applied to analyze the data. Following interventions performed in each cycle, this study found that During the pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III, the percentage of solved emotional intelligence was 62.5%, 68.75%, 77%, and 85%, respectively. This work confirms that the group guidance with movie learning strategies plays a role in determining students’ emotional intelligence in Class XI MIPA 4 SMA Negeri Colomadu of the 2021/2022 academic year.
