This study aims to improve students’ learning motivation through individual counseling using Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) with a self-talk technique. The subject of the study was an eighth-grade junior high school student with low learning motivation. The research employed a Guidance and Counseling Action Research design, carried out in two cycles. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire, observation sheets, and interviews. The findings revealed a significant improvement in learning motivation, as indicated by an increase in scores from the low category (48) in the pre-action phase to the high category (82) in the post-action phase. Moreover, the student demonstrated cognitive changes, such as reducing irrational thoughts and the ability to replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. It can be concluded that the implementation of REBT with the self-talk technique is effective in enhancing students’ learning motivation.
