This study aims to improve students’ learning strategies and understanding of the simple present tense through the Small Discussion Group model. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis & McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles involving 30 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Bandung Tulungagung. Data were collected through tests, observations, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed an increase in the average score from 63.5 in the pre-cycle to 75.2 in cycle I, and 84.6 in cycle II. In addition, students’ active participation in discussions and ability to provide feedback also improved. This model proved effective in fostering collaboration, confidence, and students’ grammar comprehension.
