THE USE OF FORMAL AND INFORMAL SITUATIONS ON GREETING AND LEAVE-TAKING FOR INCREASING STUDENTS' INTEREST IN LEARNING IN SMP NEGERI 2 SITUBONDO

Abstract. This research aims to increase students' interest in learning in Greeting and Leave-Taking material through the use of formal and informal situations at SMP Negeri 2 Situbondo. The method used is the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The research results show that the use of this method increases students' involvement in discussions and their learning outcomes. The average student score reached 85, with all students meeting the completion criteria. This research recommends the use of innovative approaches in learning English.
