Konflik Tenaga Kerja PT. Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) di Morosi, Konawe, Sulawesi Tenggara Tahun 2018-2023
Abstract
Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) is a Chinese nickel smelter company based in Southeast Sulawesi. In line with this, the community anticipates that the presence of this foreign company will benefit the local economy. However, as the company's business expands, it can cause tension in the community. The purpose of this study is to identify and examine potential conflicts between local and international workers at PT. Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry in order to determine the root causes of these conflicts. This study examines communication models, as well as the functions of the community and related parties in resolving conflicts at the research site, using the theories of John Paul Lederach and Johan Galtung. Meanwhile, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted using data collected from the official website of the Southeast Sulawesi government and literature studies. The research findings indicate that the cause of the conflict between local and foreign workers from China at the company is the wage disparity between local and foreign workers at PT. Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry, where local workers' wages are not comparable to those of Chinese workers, which can impact the psychological well-being and performance of workers, thus potentially causing conflict.
