Abstract

Belt Road Initiative (BRI) or otherwise known as One Belt One Road (OBOR) is one of the policies issued by China. China as the initiator of BRI wants to expand its territory to neighboring countries, one of which is Vietnam. Vietnam as one of the countries in the Southeast Asia region is trying to prove its appreciation for the BRI initiated by China. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project on Vietnam's economy in 2017-2018. In this study, the author uses geoeconomic theory and bilateral diplomacy. The research method used is a qualitative research method with secondary data sources from news, websites, and previous research taken using library research data collection techniques. The results of the analysis conducted by the author, BRI has influenced the geoeconomics of China and Vietnam in the 2017-2018 period. Where there is an increase in cooperation in the trade, energy, and tourism sectors. BRI has also facilitated the construction of the Long Jiang industrial park. So BRI has an important role in the economic cooperation of China and Vietnam
