Case Study of Hallyu Product Rejection in China 2016-2017
Abstract
This research describes and analyses the struggle for cultural hegemony between China and South Korea through case of Korean wave or Hallyu ban policy by government of China in 2016-2017. Hallyu expansion made government of China worried. This research uses theory of hegemony and imagined communities. The purpose of this research is to describe how the government of China tries to struggle cultural control with the Hallyu ban policy in 2016-2017. This research uses qualitative method with secondary data collection. From all of data about this kind of research, the researcher has assumption that the reason of Hallyu ban by government of China is because government of China reasses the streng of South Korean cultural hegemony is. South Korea uses products of Hallyu to share values of modernism, westernisation and capitalism which all of the values are contradiction with Chinese values like socialism and communism.
