PRESIDENT MOON JAE IN'S EFFORTS IN BILATERAL RELATIONS BETWEEN SOUTH KOREA AND NORTH KOREA IN THE 2017-2019 TERM

Abstract

This research describe and analise how The President of South Korean, Moon Jae In, actualize diplomatic relations improvement among South Korea and North Korea in the periode of 2017-2019. The relations of the two countries has been estranged since the Korean War. In the presidential election campaign, Moon Jae In, who is the son of a former refugee, promised that the unification of Korea was one of the priorities of his administration.  Before this periode of years, the diplomatic relations of the two countries were estranged. This research uses international conflict theory and diplomatic theory. The purposes of this research are to find out and analise President Moon Jae In’s effort to actualize reconciliation on Korean Peninsula. The method that used in this research is qualitative method by using primary and secondary data, which be elaborated in the manner of descriptive explanation. From the data that researcher attain, Korean unification policy by Moon Jae In in the periode of 2017-2019 still not optimal, because it is obstructed by the relations between North Korea and United States, also controversy related to the difference of South Korea ideology.
