Abstrak

This community service activity aims to improve financial literacy and planning skills for home industry workers, particularly female tailors and housewives in the garment center of Kalitengah Village, Wedi District, Klaten. The main challenges include low financial literacy, lack of financial record-keeping, and the overlap between personal and business finances, which hinder financial decision-making and business sustainability. The program is implemented through an educational and participatory approach, including interactive workshops, financial record-keeping training, budget planning simulations, group discussions, and individual mentoring. Materials are presented in a contextual manner using everyday language and real-life narratives, while integrating local wisdom values such as the principle of “returning to the roots.” Evaluation results show an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of income-expenditure recording, household budgeting, and changes in attitudes toward consumption and family financial management. This initiative has proven effective in promoting wiser financial behavior and can be replicated in community-based household economic empowerment programs.
